Dare I Say Abstract

It’s sometimes hard to explain why you like one piece of art versus another; especially with abstract work.  I have grown to appreciate abstract art, and at times, prefer it.
I am preparing to move and looking around at what needs to be done.  I see all of my beautifully framed photographs on the walls that at one time I loved so much they had to go up.  As time passes and tastes evolve I’ve found the strong love that was there initially has faded and I don’t notice them on the walls any more… but why?  Is it because the image is so clearly defined and is almost telling you what to think?
I am slowly moving to an abstract world with my personal work.  Photographs that make you look for a second longer than usual.  The things that make you go hmmm… is what I’m going for.  These photos are not highly manipulated (those of you that know me well know that my skills do not lie in Photoshop or any other program).  For my techies out there that means nothing was added or subtracted more than ten points in Lightroom.
Here is the first of hopefully a few series that I will share with you all.

A Quickie

Every once in a while, when the time is right, I snap a few shots for myself when on 'the job'.  It's hard to call it a job when I love what I do; for that I feel very blessed.
There are many beautiful places along the American River.  Some more private than others making them feel like they are all yours.  The first two shots where taken at 'our' summer spot.  It's too beautiful not to share and take portraits there.  These where taken a few weeks ago and the river was low which worked out perfectly!
The last shot was taken in Galt.  A wardrobe change is just the right amount of 'me' time.  I'm a sucker for reflections... and even more of a sucker for fall colors!  Fall and summer are in a constant tie for the best time of year.
Here's to 2012.

New Home

Waking up to freshly dusted snow was just as magnificent as the star studded welcome Wednesday night.  Aloha Truckee!
My cousin Jennifer, aka sister, moved up here so it's only right I see her as much as possible, making Truckee my home away from home.  My life would not be as coo if it went for my Jennifer.  She is the one that notices a new freckle and is always down for some creative banter.
I haven't shared here in quite some time so here is a bit of what I captured and made during my 4 day visit.  The jewelry shots were taken with my new yummy 50mm 1.4 lens.  Christmas came early thanks to my Man.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

There is always that photograph that you love and don't know why...  Im thinking it's the shadow and the organically placed pinecones.
